A nervous person

I was walking in the woods
a dog walked pass me
My heart started pounding
thump-thump
thump-thump-thump
because I was afraid
that it would jump me
My dad has always told me
Beware of dogs: they might jump you
might bite you
They lose their minds
So I grew up feeling afraid
of pet dogs
Big ones
small ones
loud
or quiet
who make my heart pound
when they walk pass me
But it didn’t seem to care
or notice
It walked pass me
a perfect straight line
without looking
perhaps it was thinking
if it could think
or bothers to
